Offshore racing legend Johnny Tomlinson teamed up with rising talent Caleb Mead at the 2nd annual XINSURANCE Offshore event in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, competing in the 500R Factory Stock class. Together in the Mead Family Racing MTI 390XR, the duo delivered consistent, podium-worthy performances, finishing third on both Saturday and Sunday against a fiercely competitive field. While Tomlinson brought decades of throttleman experience to the cockpit, it was Mead’s composed and skillful driving that helped the team hold their ground against dominant frontrunners like Tyler Miller and Myrick Coil of T/S Motorsports MTI.
Their performance underscored the growing chemistry between the veteran and the up-and-comer. Tomlinson’s steady hand on the throttles, paired with Mead’s sharp instincts and confident handling, proved to be a strong combination in a class that demands both speed and strategy. The back-to-back podium finishes were a testament not only to Tomlinson’s enduring expertise but also to Mead’s emergence as a serious competitor in offshore racing.
